Google Wi-Fi (Mobile Minute)
Description
Google is reportedly at work on an app that will automatically move mobile devices onto its Wi-Fi network. Engadget reports that Google is trialling an Android app that would connect mobile devices to its Wi-Fi hotspots wherever they are available, without any user action required. That could mean lower cell phone bills for consumers and some lost revenue for wireless carriers. Google recently inked a deal to handle the Wi-Fi connections at all U.S. Starbucks, taking that business away from AT&T. Now, Google is reportedly working to increase its Wi-Fi footprint in the U.S. and Canada.
