-Bharti Airtel has picked Chinese hardware manufacturer Huawei for a three-year infrastructure procurement deal. Huawei will provide base stations and other equipment Bharti needs to support its 4G network in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The terms of the deal have not been released.
-Vodafone is reportedly looking to place a bid to purchase satellite broadcaster Sky; the deal is potentially worth a reported $23 billion. A purchase of Sky would make Vodafone's so-called "quad-play" offerings more robust.
-The four largest mobile network operators in the United Kingdom have reached a binding agreement to cut the number of not-spots where coverage is weak or non-existent by two-thirds. EE, O2, Three and Vodafone will invest more than $7 billion.
-Telstra, Australia's largest phone company, is reportedly looking to buy Pacnet Limited, which owns undersea telecom in the Asia and Pacific region. Pacnet is reportedly looking for a $1 billion valuation. If the deal closes, Telstra would own more than 28,000 miles of submarine cables linking Asia and the United States.
