#MWC14 RF Micro Devices And TriQuint Semiconductor CEOs Announce Merger

The CEOs of RF Micro Devices and TriQuint Semiconductor announce a "merger of equals" at Mobile World Congress 2014.

RF Micro's business focuses on amplifiers, power management, switch-based products and filters used for broadband mobile connectivity in smartphones, with their offerings for networking infrastructure and aerospace-defense markets set to increase thanks to TriQuint's radio frequency chips.

With a before merger valuation of $1.6 billion, expect this to become a multi-billion dollar enterprise after the merger. The companies will split their board, management and employees evenly to create a "best of breed" team.
