AT&T continues to up its software defined network and network function virtualization game with the addition of Cisco Systems, Ciena and Broacade Communications to its supplier program. The new supplier program, Domain 2.0, is an update to Domain 1.0 from 2009. The new version is meant to increase reliability by using cloud architecture.

News out of Germany, Nokia’s new Berlin security center is up and running. The new facility is focused on mobile broadband protection and is equipped with a fully operational 4G/LTE test network.
Major tech players are pushing back on President Obama’s recent directive that the Federal Communications Commission bring Internet regulations under Title II authority. Title II comprises regulations applying to traditional wired communications. Companies like Cisco, IBM and Qualcomm, in a letter to the feds, argue that Title II regulation could cost some $45.4 billion in lost capital investment.
