Introduction
Old Marketing is not as effective as Online and Social Network Advertising
Social Network Advertising allows you to target very specific demographics
Social Network advertising is less expensive because Ad space is not wasted
There are 4 ways to advertise on Facebook. Profile Page, Fan Page, Facebook Ads, Facebook Apps
Using Your Profile Page
The more "friends'" the better. You can have up to 5000 friends
80% of Strangers will accept a friend request
In the beginning target people you actually know, and your High School Class.
Target people with common interests as your own
Your status updates need to talk about more then your business
Advertise your business by using status updates, not by sending messages
Messages can get flagged as spam. If too many of your messages are flagged your account will be disabled.
Fan Page
Very easy to create
Technically your business should be a Fan page, and not a Profile page.
Suggest you Fan page to all of your friends.
Fan page Insights can show you the demographics that are interested in your business.
Facebook Ads
You pay either by CPC or CPM
Payment is on a bidding system like Google AdWords
You can limit how much you are willing to pay per day in the Campaign Settings
Campaigns are used to house Ads.
Ads have to be approved. The process takes 4-24 hours.
Running multiple Ads/ Campaigns at the same time seems top have a negative overall effect (As of January 31st, 2010) I suggest running only one Ad at once.
