Ciena Unveils Distributed NFV At MEF16

Ciena's John Hawkins talks to Susan Friedman at the MEF16 conference in Baltimore, MD, and discusses Ciena's new Distributed NFV infrastructure solution unveiled at the conference.
John walks through the three aspects of Ciena's D-NFVI solution:
1) A new piece of hardware, Ciena's 3906mvi Service Virtualization Switch, a cp,[act 6-gig Ethernet switch sitting at the customer premise that can accept virtual functions, or VNFs.
2) Ciena's D-NFVi software, a complete, modular solution specifically optimized for the Distributed NFV environment. Ciena's D-NFVi software can live on the 3906mvi or an x86-based commercial-off-the-shelf server.
3) Ciena's Blue Planet multi-domain service orchestration (MDSO) software suite, that allows the service provider to orchestrate and manage the distribution of these VNFs across a multi-vendor and multi-domain network.
