Commscope's Spectrum Auction Services, SiteRise Update
Description
Philip Sorrells, Vice President of Strategic Marketing, Wireless, for CommScope, discusses the work of a division of the company called Comsearch that focuses on frequency auctions. In network monetization, there's a need to add new technologies and frequencies. How does one implement new frequencies into existing sites? It's a complex process, but CommScope has announced a new service where they pre-analyze the ecosystem of a network so a company has some engineering data up-front before making spectrum decisions. This is called the AuctionPlanner.
AuctionPlanner™, a data product that gives operators the critical information they need about incumbent systems. AuctionPlanner delivers enhanced graphics to empower operators to develop an optimal bidding strategy prior to auction, reducing risk and enabling more rapid decision making. Using AuctionPlanner, operators can determine which systems will likely have to be relocated to prevent interference to and from AWS-3 operation, along with the impact and timeframe for relocating them.
Last year CommScope introduced the SiteRise, and now they give us an update on the latest version of the SiteRise. With it's easy "plug and play" design, Philip believes this will decrease the time spent at the top of the tower by 40% which will help technicians make less mistakes. This is seen as replacement solution for the way companies used build tower tops, decreasing weight and wind load.
