Dan Hurd, President of Compete Table Solutions (CTS), shares his views on the "democratization of enterprise and government mobile device distribution channel", with Jeff Mucci from RCR Wireless News.
For nearly a decade, CTS has been providing enterprise customers with tablet solutions that include hardware and software solutions. Today, CTS offers enterprise and government customers with a continuum of mobile solutions that includes table and smartphone hardware, cellular data and voice plans, BYOD, custom applications, mobile device management (MDM), accidental damage program (ADP), extended service contracts (ESC), corporate mobile device policy development, training and implementation, and a portal for self administering management of devices.
From Dan's perspective, the carriers and device manufacturers are starting to see that the market will decide from whom they will purchases smartphones, tablets, and mobile device solutions. This shift in buying trends is creating challenges for the traditional distribution channels (VARS, retail stories, carrier global account sales teams), while also creating new opportunities for both new entrants and incumbent channels.
Key players in the enterprise and government mobile device distribution ecosystem include:
1) The carriers selling direct
2) The value added resellers (VARS) that include SHI, CDW, ZONES, and Complete Tablet Solutions (CTS)
3) Portal providers (i.e.TD Mobility and Synnex)
4) Mobile Device Managers (i.e. JAMF, Mass 360, Airwarch, Good Technologies, Absolute, Araria (SAP), Landesk, and Mobile Iron)
