Iron Mountain Boston Data Center
Description
Take a tour of Iron Mountain's Boston Data Center
Part One
Welcome to Iron Mountain's Boston Data Center. Our facility meets LEED Gold specifications and features a Tier III certified design and build -- providing you with a secure, resilient and energy-efficient environment.
Iron Mountain provides proven procedures, comprehensive security measures and a portfolio of compliant services to help you meet the most stringent regulatory standards.
We invite you on a tour of Iron Mountain Boston, starting with the operations areas including the security center, lobby, break room, offices, restrooms, and loading dock.
Data center security is enabled through the use of multiple secured areas and man traps requiring three-factor security checks: biometrics; access cards; and PIN codes.
All Iron Mountain facilities are protected by comprehensive security measures, including rigorous background checks and screening of all vendors and employees -- along with formalized training that is tailored for highly regulated environments.
The facility is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing comprehensive security and remote hands technical services, around the clock.
Every detail of an Iron Mountain Data Center is designed with one goal in mind: to protect your mission-critical assets. To reduce the risk of physical harm to your infrastructure, the data center is built to Miami-Dade County standards to withstand winds of up to 149 miles per hour and also meets a 1.5 seismic rating. Redundant fiber entrance facilities offer no single point of failure for network services. Power systems are designed to the Uptime Tier III standard, far exceeding industry norms for electrical and cooling reliability.
Each data hall features 10,000 square feet of 36" raised floor to provide flexible layout and design. Each data hall can support 1.2 MW of critical IT load and can cool densities of up to 20kW per rack without containment. The entire data center campus can quickly expand by 10,000 square foot 1.2MW units.
Cooling for each data hall is provided by four (4) large roof mounted package units with automatic controls to maximize the use of free air cooling. This is a major component of our Minimum Load, Maximum Performance architecture that delivers PUE levels of 1.2 to 1.5 at loads as little as 25%.
Each data hall features "2N" UPS power architecture, multiple 2MW generators and N+ 1 mechanical system to deliver the enhanced reliability of a Tier III certified design. The A & B Power Centers include fully redundant concurrently maintainable UPS Systems and switchgear. Each Power Center is located in its own electrical room providing physical separation.
In the event of a utility power failure, the entire facility is backed up by redundant 2MW generators, each housed in a separate weather proof enclosure. The generators, transformer and arc flash cabinet are housed within the service yard which is protected by an 8' anti-climb, black, PVC coated fence.
