Premises Cabling Lecture 11: Counterfeit Cables

Counterfeit "Cat 5" cables have been sold in the US and elsewhere around the world. There are serious problems with these cables regarding electrical performance and safety issues associated with flammability of cheap plastic insulation.
In this video, we will take a look at a counterfeit cable and see how to identify it. We will also see what happens when we try to burn it.
